❐ Introduction to the Story:
" Thank you , Ma'am ' is a heart - touching tale of love , kindness and trust . It is a classic short story with very rich themes . It tells us the story of a boy who tries to steal a woman's purse . It also tells us the story of a woman who tries to make the world a better place from her small corner . The woman catches the boy , stops him and drags him . She surprises him by what she does next . She takes him to her home instead of the police station , cleans him up and gives him food . She treats him with a kindness he has never known and teaches him right from wrong . Sentences in the story mainly have a simple structure . Language is also mostly plain and easy . Hughes writes the story in the idiom of black American . Most of the story is written in an urban dialect . The narrator speaks in a colloquial voice and the characters speak colloquial dialogues .

' Thank You Ma'am ' ভালোবাসা , দয়া ও বিশ্বাসের মর্মস্পর্শী গল্প । এটি অতি উৎকৃষ্ট বিষয় নিয়ে রচিত একটি উচ্চমানের গল্প । এটি এক ছেলের গল্প বলে যে ছেলেটি এক মহিলার টাকার ব্যাগ চুরি করার চেষ্টা করে । এটি এক মহিলারও কাহিনি বর্ণনা করে যিনি তাঁর ক্ষুদ্র সামর্থ থেকে পৃথিবীকে আরও সুন্দর করে তোলার চেষ্টা করেন । মহিলাটি ছেলেটিকে ধরে ফেলেন , তাকে থামান এবং টানতে থাকেন । পুলিশ নিয়ে যাওয়ার পরিবর্তে তিনি তাকে নিজের বাড়ি নিয়ে যান । তাকে পরিচ্ছন্ন করেন এবং খেতে দেন । তিনি তাকে ক্রমশ সহৃদয়তা দেখান যে এ ধরনের সহৃদয়তা সে আগে কখনও পায়নি এবং তাকে ঠিক - ভুলের তফাতটা শেখান । গল্পের বাক্যগুলির গঠন সরল | ভাষাও সহজসরল | হিউজ কৃয়াঙ্গ আমেরিকান মানুষদের কথ্যভাষা ব্যবহার করে গল্পটি লেখেন । গল্পের অধিকাংশটি শঙ্কুরে উপভাষায় রচিত । গল্পের কথক ঘরোয়া ভঙিতে কথা বলেন এবং গল্পের চরিত্রগুলি ঘরোয়া সংলাপ ব্যবহার করে কথা বলে।

❐ Summary of the Story:
Thank You Ma'am ' is about a young boy who attempts to snatch ( স্ন্যাচ ) a purse ( পাস ) from an aged , bulky lady . He fails in his attempt because he cannot maintain his balance while snatching ( স্ন্যাচিং ) the purse . The lady catches hold of the boy and almost drags ( ড্রাগস্ ) him to her home . The boy is treated kindly by the lady at her house . She befriends ( বিফ্রেন্ডস্ ) him by providing him food , cleaning him and ultimately giving him ten dollars to buy a pair of blue suede ( স্যুয়েড ) shoes . The boy at first thinks of running away but the kind attitude of the lady makes him change his mind . He sincerely tries to express his gratitude but his expression ( এক্সপ্রেশন ) falls short of his emotion . They part at the end , but it becomes almost certain by this time that the boy is a changed person now who would probably never commit ( কমিট ) such a mistake again .

' Thank You Ma'am ' ছোটোগল্পটি একজন কমবয়সি কিশোরকে নিয়ে যে একজন বয়স্ক , ভারী চেহারার মহিলার টাকার ব্যাগ ছিনিয়ে নেওয়ার চেষ্টা করে । ছেলেটির এই প্রচেষ্টা ব্যর্থ হয় কারণ সে ব্যাগ ছিনতাই করতে গিয়ে নিজের শরীরের ভারসাম্য বজায় রাখতে পারেনি । মহিলাটি ছেলেটিকে ধরে ফেলেন এবং তাকে প্রায় টেনে - হিঁচড়ে নিজের বাড়িতে নিয়ে যান । সেখানে ছেলেটির সাথে মহিলাটি সদয় ব্যবহার করেন । ছেলেটির সাথে বন্ধুত্বপূর্ণ আচরণ করে মহিলা তাকে খাবার দেন , তৎক পরিচ্ছন্ন করেন এবং শেষপর্যন্ত তাকে নীল রঙের এক জোড়া স্যুয়েড জুতো কিনতে দশ ডলার দেন । ছেলেটি প্রথমে পালিয়ে যাবার কথা ভাবে কিন্তু মহিলাটির সদয় আচরণ ছেলেটির মনকে বদলে দেয় । সে আন্তরিকভাবে তার কৃতজ্ঞতা প্রকাশ করার চেষ্টা করে কিন্তু অভিব্যক্তির সীমাবদ্ধতায় তার গভীর অনুভূতি যথার্থভাবে প্রকাশ পায় না । দুজনে শেষপর্যন্ত একে অপরের কাছ থেকে বিদায় নেয় কিন্তু এরই মধ্যে এটা নিশ্চিতভাবে বোঝা যায় যে ছেলেটি সম্পূর্ণভাবে এক অন্য মানুষে । পরিবর্তিত হয়েছে যে হয়তো আর কখনও এরকম ভুল কাজ করবে না ।
